Why do more men run marathons than women? The SLC marathon was this last weekend
Here is the gender breakdown by event:
5k: 58% female
10k: 62% female
Half marathon: 51% female
Full marathon: 31% female
Women participate at higher levels in each distance but when it comes to the full marathon there is a sharp drop off.
I observe this same trend at every race I do. Why is this the case?
