I think my favorite was the chat guy agreeing to hear me out, explain the situation, informing him I'd already found the new flight for less than the change fee, having him tell me he can help me out, and then him informing me that he's got it all set up, and it's just the cost of the change fee.
I really dislike non-confrontational service personnel who won't be honest up front out of fear of a confrontation. Just tell me up front you have no authority and will be wasting both of our times by allowing me to believe there's possibly a better option.
