A great way to state their current value (if they’ve played). 1 - kids can commit early and/or only be interested in a few schools so offers just don’t come from others. 2 - a kid can explode as a diamond in the rough, and certainly their on court performance in college is more valuable than any high school experience. 3 - teams constantly need guys to play a role, the right guy may not have great offers but may have significant value because of what a program needs.
Again not saying you’re wrong, Richie doesn’t go to Kentucky without Pope. But still, lot more value than what high school offers might show. And the same is true for a lot of guys.
