The problem being the amount of available homes that cost less than the median
home is lower than the amount of people who want a home but can't afford the median home. Starter homes aren't being built often enough and a lot of existing starter homes are gobbled up by people who see them as investment opportunities. "Live in apartments until you're 35 and can afford a house" is good advice but rubs people wrong when many of the people telling them bought a home at 25 with just their job money.
