- BYU consistently started off in a hole they had to dig themselves out of,
- when BYU had a big halftime lead it usually disappeared in the second half in no time,
- a BYU player would be scorching the nets, then get pulled by Pope to sit the rest of the half.
- game after game he would start a player who was shooting about 25% on 3s and who was a poor defensive player
- besides the "run-and-gun, jack up 3s if you are open" offense, BYU didn't have an alternative offensive scheme
- BYU never put together good out-of-bounds plays
Pope was a better salesman than he was a coach. We'll see how that works at Kentucky
