It depends. The south side has a lot more restaurants, lodging options, and
activities. You are closer to attractions like Emerald Bay and the hiking in that area. South Tahoe can also seem way too crowded at times and the traffic can get bad on the weekends.

The north side is much quieter, less crowded, and more upscale. There are less options to eat and stay. However, the best beaches imo (those around Sand Harbor and its vicinity) are the best on the lake and some of the prettiest I have ever seen.

So it kind of depends on what you are looking for.
