It’s really not. Too many kids are going to BYU in spite of what it stands for and not because of it.
They want the prestige and cheap tuition, but they really have no interest in living the standards or going forth to serve.
Essays and letter of recommendations are a great way to sniff these kids out.

Letter of Rec may speak to how aptly an applicant fits at BYU's mission. Essays don't. At all. Anyone can say whatever

This would be a good data point, except seminary teachers are so inconsistent. Some are all in on the rec, some couldn't
