In his coaching career, Sean Payton has started a rookie QB once, for one game.
It's interesting, I listened to an interview with him this morning. Drew Brees was a 4th year player who some thought was washed up when Payton acquired him.

Also, he confirmed that they'd been working on a trade to acquire Zach for at least 3 weeks. It sounds like he's going to allow either or both to develop at their own pace. It would not surprise me to see Zach start this season at least, so they don't throw Nix into the fire before he's absolutely ready. Then it's up to Zach what happens next.

But look at what happened to all the QB's from Zach's draft class who were made day 1 starters.

Nothing in Payton's history or in what he's saying suggests he's anxious to put a rookie in as starter on day 1.
