Casa rio and Rita’s on the river are just meh but kind of a fun atmosphere, especially if you can get a table on the river.
Other than those listed above in the thread, Pico de gallo is an underrated place just west of downtown.
Rosario’s is south of downtown and is also great.
Also taco palenque is my favorite casual/fast food place, regardless of cuisine. I’d get the tampiquena plate and a fajita quesadilla. They make almost everything in house and it’s really good.
Supercoug introduced me to the tostada burger at Chris Madrid’s. Big old Jeddah cheeseburger with homemade chips and refried beans. It is delicious.
