Waiter brings the check, the slip has a gratuity line on it.  I pay with Apple Pay it goes through with no mention of a tip.  I ask the waiter, what about the tip?

His comment is "there is no tip. Why would you give me a tip for doing my job?"  I say, you've done a good job, what if I want to tip you?

Again, he says, "I'm doing my job, no way in hell should I get paid extra... for doing my job."

We then discussed the pervasive tipping culture in the US.  He states, that's not how we do things here.
