because I’ve seen it. Picked my brother up off the street unconscious before. I just hate the general attitude people have towards meth because if you use once, you immediately feel like you have to hide it. Whereas lots of people will talk about doing cocaine once or twice. Even when he’s been clean, he feels like the worst of the worst. You’re in the shame cycle after one use.
Meth addiction is so much different than people think. Usually we think that after a month of picking up, you’re on the street babbling to yourself. In reality, people go years hiding it, working jobs, seemingly normal, and living in hell. Feeling completely trapped because it’s all a big joke to most of us. Some die without any of their family ever knowing they used.
Even me, after living this, say “meth head”. I don’t know, it’s just hard. I wish we could have a kinder attitude in general towards those that struggle. I guess I’m just dreaming.
