Mostly because he was able to do more with less—the MO at BYU. Finding a coach that could replicate that, felt like it would be a stroke of good luck in the NIL era. What BYU has done since he left has signaled a major shift in how they have operated historically and has me feeling very optimistic for the future.
That said, if Coach Young doesn’t pan out, it would take several years to dig out of that.
