Others may feel different but this is family time. Not "I'm here because I want you to play at the University of ______ time". It's not marketing time or slales pitch time.
It's celebration time for a family. Time to connect.
A coach showing up is just at the root, selfish. The coach is there, really, for one reason. They want that player in their program.
I know Y coaches have done this too. But good grief, the time to market and sell, is not when a returning missionary steps off an airplane.
It is intrusive.
To me, the coach that wins, would be the one that doesn't barg in on return day, up staging family and the real reason for the day, but the one who respects the families privacy and let's them have that special time. And would schedule a visit, a day or 2 after the missionary arrives home.
