Go read the many articles about it. He initiated the conversation about it and
asked for it. Probably had something to do with taxes, probably had something to do with him making $50Mil in endorsements every year, but definitely had to do with keeping their tax threshold down so they can realistically go and get other players without incurring as much of a penalty. It’s all out there and documented why he did it.
