I rarely believe these huge numbers. They are never sourced it's always hearsay.
It is also to the advantage of the recruit if big numbers are thrown around because it drives up the price.
If I was being recruited and getting good offers I would probably mention a ludicrous number off the record to see if it leads to higher offers.
I'm sure he got offered a lot but $2 mil? I'm skeptical.
