I decide what tire I want, then go find it as cheaply as possible online and
take it to my local shop, and he mounts them for less than $100 and disposes of the old tires. An extra step, but last time it saved me almost $200 compared to Costco, with the mounting. And I had to get an oil change anyway, so I had to go into the shop already.
