South to North is harder. Longer climb out than going north to south
Lots of good advice on here. Socks, Water, nutrients. You don't want extra weight, but you want to take what you need.

Excellent sleep and hydration in advance. Have a plan for sudden issues: weather, injury, etc. Redundant buddy system.
