You'd have to have Peter Jackson involved, and you couldn't kowtow to studio.
Like they did on The Hobbit trilogy disaster.
There was only enough material there for 1 movie, not 3 — but they spread it out into perpetuity and went for the cash grab anyway. Despite the production quality, what a disaster — not even close to the magic and storytelling in LOTR.
As someone who loved The Hobbit book and story so much as a kid, the trilogy was such a disappointment.
