It was from the French company Mecanorma.

They made rub-down lettering which they could have used to rub along the path.

You can type the word "Brigham Young" in the text field and the preview will show up below. It's got the same mix of upper and lowercase letters. The "I" isn't tapered quite the same as the one on the jersey, but I strongly suspect it was based on this and perhaps hand-done to create what was put on the jerseys.
