You might be saved by the United ConnectionSaver program
It automatically watches flights in these scenarios and will hold your connecting flight if it doesn’t screw up other travelers connections too bad. I’ve had it work from DEN-SLC when I was on the last flight out and my inbound was delayed. If the crew has the time and it’s the last flight hub to non hub you have a good chance.

Edit to add, if it’s mechanical and you start to get notifications for food vouchers/hotel then the connection saver algorithm knows you’re screwed
