netflix prob had a part in this. Easy to stay at home and watch a bunch of movies in the comfort of your own home
in comfortable clothes and in non lds cases, drink/drugs. It was happening long before covid. Theatres had been trying to upgrade the experience for years before covid
people used to all watch the same movies as well, but now people watch all sorts of things from random genres due to streaming, times have changed
