Number of people have chickens (maybe one in 20 houses - it’s becoming trendy). We share a fence with a neighbor that has a rooster. We are not a rural area at all. City code does not allow roosters.

The rooster begins crowing between 2:00 and 3:00 and keeps it up until around 6:00 every morning. If I’m asleep it doesn’t wake me up. If I wake up for some other reason it’s tough to get back to sleep.

A number of neighbors are annoyed, but we have a lot of patience and tolerance. House guests of mine always have a rough night of sleep.

All three of my adult sons who now dislike visiting and sleeping at our house are saying we should call animal control. Under the city ordinance they get one warning and it animal control is called again the rooster is taken away.
