Something funny occurred to me recently about 80’s rock. I went to High school in the late 90’s and had a good friend
who was obsessed with 80’s rock. He would wear 80’s style leather and jean jackets with 80’s bands patches stitched all over. Def Leppard, poison, Ratt, Motley Crue etc… He would spray paint band names on his 280z cars.

He was sorta like our very own Encino man where he was like this relic from a different era which felt extremely foreign to the prevalent culture of the late 90’s which was just 10 years removed is all. Everywhere we would go, he was looked at funny like he was this archaic human visiting the future.

I now see kids listening to Tupac, Biggie and other artists from the mid to late 90’s and it is completely viewed as normal and common. It’s just wild to think that artists who are 30 years removed from the current generation is much more accepted than 80’s rock was in the late 90’s.
