what would it be like. Then I realized...some of the best BYU sports stories from history might not have happened. For example:

Kresimir Cosic - Jumps in the portal and lands at Kentucky or UNC. He's much closer to home than in Provo and is surrounded with talent and plays on the biggest stage. He becomes a star and is drafted in the NBA. Never joins the church.

Jim McMahon - Probably doesn't happen at BYU. He might've left to go find another school and get paid after he's asked to sit when Marc Wilson returned. The only thing that might have prevented it is other universities weren't throwing the ball yet like BYU.

Steve Young - Might not have happened at BYU. Buried on the depth chart behind 6 other QB's...Steve jumps to play closer to home (maybe UNC) with a team that allows him to use his legs more than BYU. Oh...he does a lot of handing off too. Is drafted but never really makes it because he can't read a defense and doesn't have great command of his passing.

Ugh! What a mess the NCAA has become!
