They are cordoned off as environmental hazards and will be for hundreds of years. I've not been to them (one my bucket list), but it is illegal to wander off the official visitors' paths. France has an entire government department that deals with bombs that are unearthed. And every year a few farm workers are killed or lose limbs when they plow up bombs.
