Only get 2-3 months of pool use in northern Utah
Without heating it. Has to be over 90 degrees outside to warm the pool water up to comfortable temperature. June, July and August is about it.

Heating a 40x20x11 pool is not easy and not cheap. Heater has to run pretty much all the time as water is constantly losing heat once the air temperature drops.

It's probably not worth the high cost of building a pool in northern Utah but people need something to spend their riches on. The kids can have fun for the summer. Get a few pool parties in. It's going to cost a lot of money for every one of those pool parties if you figure based on costs of pool.

Also there are ongoing maintenance costs of a pool. If the pool has an auto pool cover, which is really a must, that will wear out in a few years and is expensive to replace. Pool motors, filters, heaters, etc also wear out and need to be replaced over time. That stuff is also expensive.

A pool is a lot of work. So people will have to be hired to do that work. They don't work cheap these days.
