This is more common that you might think. Cross-reactive proteins account for these reactions (we think)
ie, chitin present in shellfish often provokes reactions to people who are allergic to house dust mite (a very common aeroallergen)

Although we don't eat chapulines in the US (dried grasshoppers), the same cross-reactive proteins including chitin and tropomysin are likely responsible.
