I did the cv boots a couple years ago. Cut the inner boot clips off without removing them from the car.
Followed the car care nut video and it worked well. He also stresses don’t even try to go after the bearing. It’s going to be welded to the axle if the car has more than a thousand miles.
He puts the low Molly grease in the outer boot, saves the thicker grease for the horizontal cv housing still in the car. Presumably so it doesn’t run everywhere while you get situated to insert the spider gear and clamp the boot down.
I wish I had put the low Molly grease in the freezer and then put it in the inner boot… next time.
