Cougs in organized BB. Critical for the program.
Every kid coming out of HS or JC who is worthy of D1 scholarship money believes that if
things break right he has a shot at MLB. It thus becomes critical for the program to be able to
show the kid that the program has the ability to help him maximize his potential in that regard.

Here are the former Cougs presently active in organized BB (feel free to add anyone who I
might have missed):

Michael Rucker. MLB IL. Philadelphia. Only Coug in MLB. Has 123 IP at MLB level. Corrently
injured.

Daniel Schneemann. AAA. Cleveland organization. Drafted in 33rd round of 2018 draft. Hard
to believe that he has made it this far. Is killing it with a 1.041 POS this year. Has eight HRs and
23 Extra Base hits already. Plays almost every position on the field. I assume that he will see
his first MLB action this year. He had a 608 OPS his final year as a Coug. At altitude. Who could
have seen this coming. Example A as to why kids think if things break right...

Justin Sterner. AAA. Tampa Bay organization. Final year at BYU was 2020. Undrafted. Was really
good in college but had injury problems. Pitching very well at AAA. 2.95 ERA. 27/5 K/BB ratio
in 21.1 IP. 891 WHIP. Have to think there is a decent chance he sees first MLB time this year.

Jackson Cluff. AA. Washington organization. 6th round pick in 2019. Started season in AAA.
Lifetime BA of 212 in minors. Just never hit enough to advance rapidly through the system.

Ryan Brady. AA. KC org. Final year at BYU was 2022. Undrafted. Having some success.
3.12 ERA. 16/7 K/BB ratio. 17 IP. With the number of pitchers teams go through these days you
never know what can happen.

Andrew Pintar. A+. Arizona org. Was hurt his final year at BYU. Was still drafted in 5th round of
2022 draft. Making good progress. Has been moved to CF from IF. 906 OPs and 7 HRs. Seems to
have a good shot to move up through the minors over next couple of years.

Austin Deming. A+. Houston org. Drafted in 10th round of 2023 draft. Holding his own with 748 OPS
but not displaying the power that teams look for out of a 3B. one HR. Alraedy 24 so needs to move up quickly.

Cy Nielson. A+. Pittsburgh org. Drafted in Round 8 in 2022. 2.25 ERA in 16 IP. 18/8 K/BB.
Looks to be making progress.

Nate Dahle. A+. Tampa Bay org. Drafted in 13th round in 2022. 4.50 ERA in 16 IP. 23/3 K/BB.
Teams look hard at the K/BB ratio so looks like he is doing well.

Cooper McKeehan. A+. KC org. Drafted in 2022 in 16th round. Struggling with an 8.71 ERA in 10.1
IP. 11/8 K/BB. Dominated at A level in 2023 but has had a hard time in A+. LHP and teams always need lefties so...

Hopefully some of the above get to MLB level. Would help dramatically with recruiting.
