there is position overlap in that they are both guards, but Lanier is not going
to be scared off of Crawford. So perhaps Crawford committing indicates that at least Crawford thinks that Lanier isn't choosing BYU.
Maybe some fans peg Crawford in as only a backup point guard, but I imagine in his mind he wants minutes on the court whether its at the off guard or as point guard.

Lanier's a 6'4" shooting guard and only available for one year, so no real position overlap with Crawford

I don't know, but in general it doesn't seem like BYU does well with portal guys that keep visiting other teams after
