Depends where you want to fly but most likely the best use of your points is to transfer them to a hotel. If you have
the hotel expense covered then transferring them to an airline is probably your next best bet.
Aeroplan, British Airways, and KLM have had great redemption value is the past (I'm not sure who is best now).

I’d search for a guide from some credit card blog or something, cause I’m pretty sure just using the points

Transfer them! Always book directly with the airline.

You should have option to pay with points. It’s always been easy and straight forward for me.

I agree. I tend to use Amex and Chase points for hotels and not for flights.

Canada Aeroplan and KLM/AF are still really good ones. We've gone to europe x2 on points.

But why? Airline redemption are worth more $/ point.

I get about 4 cents per point when I redeem with hotels. Airlines are worse for me.

Dont book through Amex. Use resources such as point.me, seats.aero, awardlogic.com, roame.travel or seatspy.

Good advice here. Amex also gives you access to points.me for free.
