Thoughts on watching Batman 1989: I love how Burton incorporates goth elements
and esthetics in this film. No one else since him has really done this successfully imo.

Kim Basinger is stunningly beautiful and a great Vicki Vale. She puts to absolute shame any other female cast members in the subsequent films (Katie Holmes lol, Maggie Gyllenhaal even bigger lol, Anne Hathaway, Nicole Kidman etc).

Jack Nicholson is great, not at Heath Ledger's level, but definitely the second best villain ever in these films.

Batman fat-shaming Viki Vale was hilarious (How much do you weigh? You weigh a little more than 108! lol). People would absolutely freak out over that nowadays.

The level of camp is dialed in just right imo, though I could see how some don't like it.

The Danny Elfman score is absolutely awesome, way better than any other superhero score I can think of that followed it. I don't care for the Prince stuff, but I've never understood why people liked him. It's one of those 80's things that I just don't understand.

Keaton is a pretty great Bruce Wayne. Definitely looks small and weaker than you'd expect but he does the dark brooding stuff well and he's a terrific actor. I'd say he's on the same level as Christian Bale.

The sets were better than I remembered, The chemical plant, the bat cave, the 100 story tall church, the museum etc. Great work by Burton again

The practical effects, Batmobile, Bat gadgets etc were top notch. So nice not to see ugly CGI.

I wish Burton could have delivered a worthy sequel, but Batman Returns is sooo much worse.
