and the big pyramid are a half-mile from Beale Street and I'd consider them the other end of downtown. I've been to Beale Street several times without any troubles. About a year ago, I walked from the Peabody to Main Street and then for 4 or 5 blocks on Main Street. I was approached by homeless people three or four times, yelled at from across the street by a small group, and it seemed I was being followed by another small group.
