I think they are planning to lose the NBA and need replacement content.

This is a good thing for CFB and specifically the Big12 come the next round of TV negotiations. Although they expressed no appetite for the PAC12 that was a dead end and it appears they are indeed interested in CFB still.

TNT does have some legacy with the Big12 and could prove a lever or even an eventual home for the Big12. Regardless, more entrants and participants (along with potentially Apple) in the CFB market is a good thing for future TV deals. Especially for those who get boxed out by FOX (B1G) and ESPN (SEC).
