Another example of outrageous prices for food. 2 donuts @ Chucks Donuts for $5.25. That's ridiculous.
I'm a big fan of donuts, but rarely get them for myself due to watching calories, etc. My disabled daughter has a weekly get-together for special needs adults and we will sometimes stop by the grocery store in the evening after dinner to buy cookies or some kind of treat to share with everyone. The grocery store - after 6pm - sells their leftover donuts for about $7 per dozen. So that's what I'm used to paying for donuts.

This morning - after dropping someone off at the airport - my daughter and I stopped by a legendary donut place in Renton (Washington) called Chuck's Donuts in the Renton Highlands. When I was working - people at Boeing would on occasion stop by Chuck's and bring in a dozen or two for everyone to share. My daughter and I each got one donut. When I went to pay - I about choked. They wanted $5.25 for 2 donuts! That's ridiculous! Two and a half bucks per donut? Yeah, I won't be going back there anytime soon.

By the way - they were delicious - but not delicious enough to pay $2.50 per donut. The rate per dozen for raised donuts is $22. For maple bars - which they are very famous for - are $25 per dozen.

How much are donuts where you live?
