1991 LaVelle chose to go for a 51-51 tie against SDSU instead of going for the win.
The tie assured BYU the WAC Championship.
Back then they had a call in show. A caller called in upset they didn't go for the win.
He said, "I would have gone for the win".
LaVelle's response was, "Thats why I am coaching, and you are calling in".
At times that seems a proper response to complaints about coaches on CB.
