sports as we know it today (and especially as we've known it for most of our lives) won't exist a decade or two from now.

I think a lot of smaller schools are going to drop out of intercollegiate athletics. Possibly some bigger ones, too. Sports outside of football and basketball are going to be gutted - especially on the men's side. Athletic department staffs will be slashed. Unionization and collective bargaining are likely around the corner. All the foundational rules and structures the sports have been built around will be erased.
