Two cicada broods are emerging at the same time in the Midwest. The last time they were both out at once, Thomas
Jefferson was president.
Cicadas are pretty rude insects, especially when you get a lot of them together--dive-bombing you and then hissing at you for being in their way, leaving their crunchy exoskeletons everywhere, etc. They're constantly thrumming. People who get migraines are getting worried about the noise, but it isn't too bad, yet:
