First of all, just watched it, didn't seem all that eggregious of a call. He basically twisted the shooter's ankle.
Secondly, very few, if any, of these would get fired for an equivalent "mistake". I'm a software engineer. We make mistakes all the time. In fact, a lot of measures are put in place to mitigate the impact of such mistakes. Same is true for a lot of other professions . That foul is not the equivalent of malpractice.
