Rise of the Planet of the Apes is the James Franco one from 2011. If that’s what you are talking about, you absolutely
Do not need to see anything before that. It’s the beginning of the reboot. And it’s the first in the Caesar trilogy which is excellent.
If you mean the Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, that’s the new one that just came out. You don’t technically need to see the Caesar trilogy to understand what you are watching but I think it makes it a lot better.
