Personally, I think it's still debatable. For all of Davis's strength & athleticism, he's not a guy who plays above the rim at the collegiate level, so I can see why Kevin wouldn't have seen him as a enviable 4 unless he could improve his shooting by quite a bit.
Even still, the kid's a beast & a good team player.
Perhaps KY's decision was more about Davis's future. And maybe part of that had to do with the fact he could tell Davis wouldn't have been happy biding his time on the bench for possibly two seasons as he developed into a viable 4 for his offense. Who knows?
