Who cares? If you are just getting married for...
the sex, then you are even more screwed up than ever.

It makes me so angry when I talk about this. I was married in the temple too. I get it.

But why o' why do Mormons get married so young? Your twenties are a time to play around and learn about yourself. Not being at home with a spouse you've known for 2 1/2 weeks.

My advice to my kids will be to postpone marriage for as long as you can. Go to study abroad in Israel, Hawaii, Europe, wherever.

Do internships at companies you think you want to work for. Change majors. Date lots of people. Stay up all night with your friends.

I could go on forever. Maybe this kid is in love. My guess, however, is she is in love with the idea and wants to be the first person in her class get married. 15 - 20 years from now, she'll be divorced and trying to create these experiences then, only to find out you can't. There's a time and place for everything. Your 20s are a time for you to develop who you really are. You can never get that time in your life back.

I have a very, very close friend that is going through this right now. She's 38 and was married at 17 1/2. She often talks about all the stuff she missed because she was in such a hurry to get married. I feel bad for her.
