I would link to the original post but looks like it has been taken down. Good, as Unga isn't a traitor, but may be a trader of stocks or other goods. Not sure.
Anyways, I'm personal friends with the 2 men who got wrapped in this rumor and caused RichW to call Unga a trader.
2 Former BYU students (neither graduated from BYU but you won't find bigger fans or supporters. Both were on BYU sports teams at one point however) are in Utah with their families on vacation. I believe they took their boys to a football camp (not relevant). They find themselves at U of U's camp for boys ages 8-10 and they are throwing the football around an adjacent field. A group of boys start to surround some players for autographs. BIL of one of the former students takes the boys over to the players to see what's up.
Former BYU students boy comes back all dejected and sad. Former BYU student asks why and says that Harvey Unga signed his shirt Go U, and crossed out the Y on his shirt putting an X through it. My buddy makes the mistake of not confirming himself that it was Harvey Unga as he would have recognized him. He takes his BIL's word for it and tells his buddy (former BYU student #2) who then decides to call Rich W.
Rich W then posts on here calling Unga a trader, gets defensive when called a troll, defends his sources etc etc. Leads to long thread that ends up on the front page.
I see the thread, I email the guys as I recognize RichW is clearly talking about them. My buddy researches situation and finds out the shirt was signed #21 which is Harvey Langi's current number for the Utes. Realizes Harvey wore 45 for BYU and the Bears currently. Wrong Harvey. My buddy calls RichW back and tells him he is making a mistake by throwing this around the internet and even taking the info to Greg Wrubell with the info etc.
LOL big misunderstanding. Moral of story is, don't believe what you read on the internet.
Also, if you are one of three people that might have damaging information on BYU (your all time leading rusher in fact being a traitor and defiling BYU shirts) how about you don't rush to the internet to let everyone know. How about keeping that stuff under wraps to presevere the good name of the University, program and player? Just a thought.
