BYU football made revenues of $22.4 million for the 2011. Thanks to BYUMizzou who archived the 2010 numbers, we know that BYU football made revenues of $15.6 million for 2010 (which includes the ~$1 million from the MWC contract). That is a positive difference of $6.8 million year over year ($7.8 million if you wipe out the revenue from the MWC contract). Blue Oyster Cult reminded me that we had one additional home game in 2011 than in 2010 and got paid $1 million for the TCU game. That would imply that our ESPN contract is worth approximately an incremental $6-7 million or so per year (gain about $1 million for the home game draw, $1 million for TCU, and about $7 million from ESPN to get an additional $8 million in revenue once you take the MWC contract out of the 2010 revenue numbers). So maybe about $1 million per game for the 6 ESPN home games we had?
This does not take into account reports of an additional $1.5 million in revenue from BYUtv sports-related sponsorships that apparently don't flow through the Athletic Department.
