At some point, there will be a move toward 4 16-team superconferences
and one P5 conference will be sacrificed to make it happen. If the Big12 looks like the one you're projecting (a non-P5 back door), it'll be considered the weakest . . . which would force flagship programs like UT and OU to jump to other P5 conferences for survival. This has people worried that the current round of Big12 expansion is a bandaid to make the Big12 sustainable only for the short-term.

In my perfect world, the Big12 would expand with BYU and another non-P5 school (Cinncy, CSU, etc.) and then make a serious move on attracting other P5 teams (from the Pac12?) to bolster its long-term sustainability. But the GOR situation seriously complicates any such raiding, leading back to the concern that by design or reality, the current expansion is only a short-term sustainability solution.

At least that's my concern.
