The high tech farms, while not currently using self driving equipment, currently use predetermined & planned plowing with integrated GPS so that you basically sit in the seat, and drive based on a GPS screen that guides you where, and controls the depths automatically to plow in order to maximize the fields and ensure that drainage is correct.

As far as I am concerned, that kind of farm equipment is a lot closer to self driving in 8 years than most people probably realize.
