need to make cars that can be driven by a human driver...but they'll have autonomous features and the ability to switch to pure self-driving. There will eventually be many cars that are purely self-driving, but it will be a long time until we see cars with no ability for a human to take over if needed or desired.

A self-driving boat has a lot more technical challenges than a car.
