I split my life up into 7 areas and make sure I am doing the right things in those areas first:
-Spiritual
-Physical (Fitness & Nutrition)
-Mental (Marriage & Parenting)
-Family
-Career
-Finances
-Social
If I look at that list and think,"Dang, haven't been on a date with my wife in a while" or "Man, prayers have become mundane and repetitive" then I will remedy those things first.
If I have all of that squared away I seek help and insight from a therapist, church leaders, or family doc.
I also practice this as a sort of weekly review with each of my kids, it's a helpful skill to have.
