When they go to CA for the almond orchards pollination, they are paid $150 per hive. They take 4,000 hives. They receive $600,000. Then they go to Washington for the Apple orchards (he didn't mention how much $$ there). Not sure if there is an additional pollinate location before the harvest the honey. Said his father did the same business, but only had 1,500 hives.
I know there is some work involved and harvesting honey is a lot of effort. Losses in the winter are anywhere from 10% to 50% death rate. I don't mind work.
I would enjoy doing it - I just don't have a good spot in my yard right now.
