They had quite a few hives. We lived in a rural area so the hives were just set up in farmers fields outside of town. The honey was some of the best I've ever had. Also due to some drought years back then some of the honey wound up having a very low moisture content thus making it excellent for long term storage. My dad used that dry honey sparingly for many years.
